I made something for you...
Last year my husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary and we were having a wonderful dinner outside on a deck when one of our friends proposed a toast. We all stopped for what seemed to be a BIG speech forthcoming. We raised our glasses and he said:
“Marriage is hard. You did a good job!”
Of course we all burst out laughing as it was not quite the sentimental speech we thought was coming! But the truth is, he is totally right. Marriage IS hard.
People often celebrate milestone anniversaries and focus on the length of it lasting. Big parties are planned for these events but I am of the opinion that it is not the TIME that you have been together that matters but how GOOD you are to each other in all that time.
I have been having lots of conversations with couples who are really struggling. Recent world events have put pressure on even the best of relationships but especially those which were already strained.
There is nothing like being quarantined with someone you love for weeks at a time to discover all the things you really do not love about them.
Almost ALL relationships at one time or another can go through a season of disconnect. Maybe a little disconnect that last a short time or maybe a giant chasm has formed and seems to have settled in a worrisome length of time. This is not good. A relationship left unattended and nurtured can easily unravel into something more serious.
If you would like to strength your relationship then I invite you to kick-start your connection with the ‘Relationship Re-Set’. Just 5 days towards living (more) happily ever after.
