Are you ever scared to face your numbers?

Have you ever put off looking at a number?
Like what your bank account is really at?
Or your tax bill?
Or your profit margin or ROI?
Or some other number that makes you cringe?

I always procrastinate looking at numbers.

Last week I faced a number I did not want to.
My body fat percentage.

Here is the interesting bit.

For those of you who have seen me ‘live’
you know I am not exactly a big person.
5’almost 4” in fact.
And for the last 20 years
my weight has usually landed somewhere
between 119 and 127lbs (except when pregnant).
And I know there are many people
who would be thrilled to weigh that.

But WEIGHT is only one number.
FAT is a whole other ball game…

Curious?

27%.
Almost a third of me
is fat.
Whoa.

Once I recovered from the shock
and the shame of this number frankly
I got busy.

I am grateful to have Isagenix to help with the nutrition end
and to now have a personal trainer to wake up my muscles!
But this is going to take some commitment BIG time.

Maybe you have a % you do not like either.
I invite you to face it and join me in my quest
to greet the summer with the body I want to match it.

To knowing your numbers.

Little Wednesday pop quiz…

Today I have a question (okay two!) for you:

If you look at your life in the past year
how would you rate your happiness?

How would you describe it?

Awesome?
Struggling?
In-progress?
Hopeful?

Here is one more (bonus) question:
Do you know what makes you happy?

Knowing your answers makes all the difference.

This has been at the forefront of my exploration
in the last year and
my revelations on that journey
are the key components
that make up my other business
“Happy Girls for Life”.

And now I am ready to reveal
what this business of happy girls is all about
and most of all
share how YOU can get a piece of happy pie too.

Join me next Monday
where I and a few special “happy” guests
will dish on how one thing
has the power to change everything.

What Oprah has inspired me to do…

Like millions of other people
I have been watching the last episodes of Oprah
with an almost neediest, fervor.

As her show winded down
I realize how much value it brought to my life.

As I watched/cried my way through her last show
I was moved by the legacy she left behind.
To me Oprah stands as an amazing testimony of service.
Yes, she was paid well for her work
but her work made a huge impact on how people lived.
how people parented, played, forgave unthinkable tings
and brought awareness to countless social, moral and political issues.

This got me thinking about my own business
and how I might serve you even more deeply.

So in the coming weeks you will see me sharing
my own version of Oprah’s “what I know for sure” series
to help you move into summer
a happier, healthier and more extraordinary you.

(If you have a desire for something special
or specific, please let me know!
Your questions, requests and comments are always welcome.)

On a personal note,
thank you for all the words of encouragement and wisdom
offered in response to learning our dog had cancer.
Our beloved Lucy died on Tuesday
but we have many photos and memories
that we are using to celebrate her life with.

To celebrating everything,
b

The serenity prayer…

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

What to do when you have a bad day…

So this weeks’s post is for anyone
who has ever had some bad news
but particularly for you animal lover’s out there
because last week we learned our dog
was sick.

Like full of cancer sick.

It was a shock to our family
especially our children
who have both loved
and lived with our dog Lucy
their whole lives.

A bummer for sure.
So what did we do?

The 5 things that always help.

1.  Cried.(Stuffing emotions never useful)
2.  Got information (Actual facts better than imagination)
3.  Told people (How can people support you if they do not know?)
4.  Made a plan. (Got real about what to do in the NOW)
5.  Prayed.  (Because miracles do happen).

So time will tell
how long we have

for the story of Lucy to unfold
but in the interim
it is okay.

Because now she is alive
and now there is lots we can do.
This is her looking uber-happy last weekend. :)

I hope this helps you
if you have ever hear some news
that is not at all what you wanted to hear.

To pets and people who love ‘em,
Beth

Ode to our Mother’s…

This weekend is Mother’s day
and it has me in a reflective mood.

I know for many of my clients (and me as well!)
the relationship we have with our mother’s
can deeply impact our life.

Do you notice this as true for you?

Let’s say your Mother is loving,
attentive, supportive and nurturing.
Chance are, you develop a strong sense of self,
feel lovable and capable of anything.

But what about people who have less than stellar mothers?

What about Mothers who abandoned, wounded,
hurt and were just not ‘there’ for them?
Often, children with tough childhoods
develop all kinds of coping skills to compensate
for whatever you didn’t get at home.

But here is what I know for sure.

All of our Mother’s give us gifts.
Maybe they are shining examples,
maybe they teach us strength
maybe they teach us what not to be
and maybe they help us in ways we have yet to know.

Because every relationship we allow close to us
teaches us.

I know my own journey as a mother
has taught me many, many lessons
and my oldest is only 11!

So I invite you this weekend
to think about your Mother
or your own journey as a mother
and think of at least ONE thing
you have learned.

Then go use it that insight
to be the best version of you.

Bright blessings to Mother’s everywhere!
I honour it as one of the most sacred
journeys ever taken.

Have a great weekend!
Beth

ps
To my Mother,
Sending you BIG love
from me to you this weekend!

A life worth celebrating…

Yesterday I attended a “celebration of life”
of my friend’s beloved father who passed away last week.

When I saw the Harley’s lined up outside
I knew this was not going to be an average gathering.

No.  This tribute would be very unique.
So fitting for the man being honoured.

The room was filled with people who had
known and loved Grant.
Side by side stood bikers, businessman,
children, colleagues friends, family and dignitaries.

I think the measure of a person is not what they have accumulated
but how they lived their life and who they have touched along the way.

What I heard over and over yesterday is how much effort Grant made
to stop and talk, to help fix cars, see babies being born, unplanned road trips,
take dogs for walks, stay for dinner and make time for what matters.

This morning I am grateful
for the reminder to do all those things.
Even more.

To Grant and great Dad’s everywhere,
b

Remember me? ;)

In case you hadn’t noticed…
it has been a month since I last wrote.
Wow!

The past 30 days have just flown by.
Has your life ramped up too?

Personally I am dedicated the next 30 days
to have a lot (more) space in it.
Making intentional time in my calendar
with absolutely nothing in it.

Last night I had the privilege
of hearing Dr. Wayne Dyer speak live
and it was such a moving reminder
of how important it is to just…
stop
have more silence
and come from a place of love.

This is one of my favorite quotes
from the evening:

“What we fight weakens us
What we love strengthen us”.

(Dyer)

My coaches invitation for you is to
find all the ways you can to LOVE more.
Your work.
Your life.
And the people in it.

To love and all it grows,
Beth

I finally made it to yoga this year…

A new hot yoga studio opened in town this weekend
and I decided to take advantage of their free week trial today.
So did a hundred other people.

Okay I didn’t actually count the sweaty bodies next to me
but suffice is to say the mat of the person next to me was touching mine.
Did  mention I am slightly claustrophobic?

So I am at yoga.
And it is really hot.
I am wearing too much fabric
but the ego refuses to bear my belly
and there are inches between me
and two other complete sweaty strangers.
Seriously.

What was I thinking?

Then the people next people start talking.
And they keep chatting the whole class.
“Great” I think to myself “newbies who do not know the silent etiquette”.
Now I am hot AND bothered.
Not a good sign.

I am officially having an opposite of zen experience.

Does this ever happen to you?
You start out all excited,
you anticipate a great experience
and then…it completely sucks.

Luckily I recently became aware of
The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha
and it is because of this book
I remain grateful for yoga today.

It was free.
I showed up.
I stayed the whole hour without
killing myself
or my yoga neighbours
and I feel…well kinda awesome.

Speaking of awesome
if you are looking to spend some time
with some inspiring women this year
then I invite you to come to my FREE
call next week where I unveil something
new I have been cooking up for you.

Until then, be AWESOME!

How do YOU use post it notes?

It is fairly well known that I am a big fan of Staples
and I like the fact that I personally know most of the staff in the copy center
(this actually is quite helpful when I am begging for a rush order!).

Anyhoos, besides all the copying, laminating and journals I buy
what I buy the most of is post it notes.

Yep. Post it’s.
They are an essential tools for my business.

I am not the only fan of them either!

I have a client who writes himself some great ones
(like “good-bye ego” is on his door when he walks out!)
or the goddess who puts “I am enough” on her bathroom mirror.

Love to hear how YOU use these fantastic
little notes
in your life or business.

Do tell!

To perfectly awesome post-its,
Beth
