Can you keep your dream when it falls apart?

This ezine is about dreams.
making them.
activating then
and in our case,
not getting them.

Two weeks ago we created a dream of a new home.
Specifically to be sitting by this very pool next summer.

We found the home we wanted. (step ONE of dream manifestation!)
We got excited.  (step TWO of dream activation – get emotional about it!)
We got into action (step THREE – show the universe you are ready!)
Then 2 days ago the whole deal fell apart.

No new house for us.

So does that mean the law of attraction doesn’t work?Hardly.
Although I have to say
I was a tad attached to the dream in the form of this house.
See the error of my ways?
Excited about a new house a good thing.
Attached to it being THE only house, not a good thing.

Ever has this happen to you?
Watched a dream slip away?

When this happened to me
I gave myself a full 24 hours
to be completely human about it
aka cry, freak out, feel desperate, overwhelmed and upset.

Now that I am on the other side of freaking out
I am able to see all the gifts in this deal falling through.
Like that we have our current house organized,  sparkling and clean,
we have our financing in place and organized
and the best part, we are so clear about our dream
to have some new home soon.

It is comes down to trust.
Trusting that the universe IS conspiring for our highest good
which means a house that is even better
must be on its way.

To your dreams,
Beth

Time to get back to…

Here at last.
The first day of school.

If you have a home office like me
you know it is a bit more challenging
during the summer
when you are trying to run your business
and your kids want to run to the beach.

But now it is September
and the perfect time to get back
to things you may have neglected.

Even if you don’t have kids
you can use the energy of back-to-school

Summer is perfect for relaxing
slowing down
and savourig the warmth of the season.

September on the other hand
is perfect for getting BACK…
back to business
back to basics
back to healthy eating
or whatever you would like to get back to.

Here is a simple 3-step method:

1.  Look at everything that was GREAT over the last 3 months and celebrate it.
2.  Next, make a LIST of things you may have neglected or given less energy to.
3.  Put ONE thing at the top of your list and commit to it for the next 30 days.

Voila!

Back-to-school-energy
is the perfect time to re-focus
and give energy to something
you want to harvest this fall.

To happy harvesting,
Beth

In case your summer isn’t going as planned…

August?
Already?
If you are a parent
you know that means
one more month
until school starts.

Here is my question for you today:
How IS your summer going?

Do this little exercise…
if you had to give one word to describe July
what word would you choose?

Personally, mine would be BUSY.
Lots of busyness – some work busyness,
and some fun busyness, but definitely
a whole lot of scheduled busy.

So to ensure the rest of the summer
felt a whole lot more relaxing
this is what I decided to do about it.

I picked the word JOY in advance for August.

So in the spirit of bringing that word to life
our family created a “joy jar” and
filled it with activities we would love to do together.

I encourage you to pick your own word
and if inspired, make a joy jar too!

To summer with intention,
beth

ps
In case you are curious
I am down 4% body fat
thanks to my personal trainer
and Isagenix – more joy!

If you could be free of one thing…what would it be?

Have you ever noticed
that everyone has ’stuff’?

You know
’stuff’ that hold us back
’stuff’ that we don’t like
and ’stuff’ we’d rather
people didn’t know about.

Even the most sucessful
have their ’stuff’ too
(they just store it in nicer houses!)

But here’s the thing
before you can deal with your stuff
you must face it.

The bold, ugly truth
about what holds you back
in your relationships
in your health
in your business
or whatever area you
are committed to seeing change in.

Here is the simple 3 step method I use:

Step 1: Pick ONE thing (not everything you want to change for be free of)
A ‘bad’ habit, a toxic relationship, procrastination,
emotional baggage, un-done’s or even household clutter (my ’stuff’!)

Step 2: Do ONE thing – like every day that supports eradicating ‘your stuff’
Action is the only sure-fire anti-dote to feeling stuck in your stuff.

Step 3: STAY the course.
Anyone can be inspired for a few hours or days.  But stick with it even when
the motivation ebbs.  On those days, have a post-it note reminding you
what is it you will GET when you are free of this thing .

Ready?  Me too.  Off to file some stuff…

To your freedom,
Beth

Are you ever scared to face your numbers?

Have you ever put off looking at a number?
Like what your bank account is really at?
Or your tax bill?
Or your profit margin or ROI?
Or some other number that makes you cringe?

I always procrastinate looking at numbers.

Last week I faced a number I did not want to.
My body fat percentage.

Here is the interesting bit.

For those of you who have seen me ‘live’
you know I am not exactly a big person.
5’almost 4” in fact.
And for the last 20 years
my weight has usually landed somewhere
between 119 and 127lbs (except when pregnant).
And I know there are many people
who would be thrilled to weigh that.

But WEIGHT is only one number.
FAT is a whole other ball game…

Curious?

27%.
Almost a third of me
is fat.
Whoa.

Once I recovered from the shock
and the shame of this number frankly
I got busy.

I am grateful to have Isagenix to help with the nutrition end
and to now have a personal trainer to wake up my muscles!
But this is going to take some commitment BIG time.

Maybe you have a % you do not like either.
I invite you to face it and join me in my quest
to greet the summer with the body I want to match it.

To knowing your numbers.

Little Wednesday pop quiz…

Today I have a question (okay two!) for you:

If you look at your life in the past year
how would you rate your happiness?

How would you describe it?

Awesome?
Struggling?
In-progress?
Hopeful?

Here is one more (bonus) question:
Do you know what makes you happy?

Knowing your answers makes all the difference.

This has been at the forefront of my exploration
in the last year and
my revelations on that journey
are the key components
that make up my other business
“Happy Girls for Life”.

And now I am ready to reveal
what this business of happy girls is all about
and most of all
share how YOU can get a piece of happy pie too.

Join me next Monday
where I and a few special “happy” guests
will dish on how one thing
has the power to change everything.

What Oprah has inspired me to do…

Like millions of other people
I have been watching the last episodes of Oprah
with an almost neediest, fervor.

As her show winded down
I realize how much value it brought to my life.

As I watched/cried my way through her last show
I was moved by the legacy she left behind.
To me Oprah stands as an amazing testimony of service.
Yes, she was paid well for her work
but her work made a huge impact on how people lived.
how people parented, played, forgave unthinkable tings
and brought awareness to countless social, moral and political issues.

This got me thinking about my own business
and how I might serve you even more deeply.

So in the coming weeks you will see me sharing
my own version of Oprah’s “what I know for sure” series
to help you move into summer
a happier, healthier and more extraordinary you.

(If you have a desire for something special
or specific, please let me know!
Your questions, requests and comments are always welcome.)

On a personal note,
thank you for all the words of encouragement and wisdom
offered in response to learning our dog had cancer.
Our beloved Lucy died on Tuesday
but we have many photos and memories
that we are using to celebrate her life with.

To celebrating everything,
b

The serenity prayer…

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

What to do when you have a bad day…

So this weeks’s post is for anyone
who has ever had some bad news
but particularly for you animal lover’s out there
because last week we learned our dog
was sick.

Like full of cancer sick.

It was a shock to our family
especially our children
who have both loved
and lived with our dog Lucy
their whole lives.

A bummer for sure.
So what did we do?

The 5 things that always help.

1.  Cried.(Stuffing emotions never useful)
2.  Got information (Actual facts better than imagination)
3.  Told people (How can people support you if they do not know?)
4.  Made a plan. (Got real about what to do in the NOW)
5.  Prayed.  (Because miracles do happen).

So time will tell
how long we have

for the story of Lucy to unfold
but in the interim
it is okay.

Because now she is alive
and now there is lots we can do.
This is her looking uber-happy last weekend. :)

I hope this helps you
if you have ever hear some news
that is not at all what you wanted to hear.

To pets and people who love ‘em,
Beth

Ode to our Mother’s…

This weekend is Mother’s day
and it has me in a reflective mood.

I know for many of my clients (and me as well!)
the relationship we have with our mother’s
can deeply impact our life.

Do you notice this as true for you?

Let’s say your Mother is loving,
attentive, supportive and nurturing.
Chance are, you develop a strong sense of self,
feel lovable and capable of anything.

But what about people who have less than stellar mothers?

What about Mothers who abandoned, wounded,
hurt and were just not ‘there’ for them?
Often, children with tough childhoods
develop all kinds of coping skills to compensate
for whatever you didn’t get at home.

But here is what I know for sure.

All of our Mother’s give us gifts.
Maybe they are shining examples,
maybe they teach us strength
maybe they teach us what not to be
and maybe they help us in ways we have yet to know.

Because every relationship we allow close to us
teaches us.

I know my own journey as a mother
has taught me many, many lessons
and my oldest is only 11!

So I invite you this weekend
to think about your Mother
or your own journey as a mother
and think of at least ONE thing
you have learned.

Then go use it that insight
to be the best version of you.

Bright blessings to Mother’s everywhere!
I honour it as one of the most sacred
journeys ever taken.

Have a great weekend!
Beth

ps
To my Mother,
Sending you BIG love
from me to you this weekend!
