Are ready to welcome 2011?

Tomorrow is the first day of 2011.

It lies before us all like a blanket of new snow.

What will be your path this year?

This morning I was sent this beautiful
piece that gives a way to step into the new year.
Thank you Andrea for sending it my way!

Honour The Beginning

Beginnings can be delicate or explosive. They can start almost indivisibly or arrive with a big bang. Beginnings hold the promise of new lessons to be learned, new territory to be explored and old lessons to be recalled, practiced, and appreciated. Beginnings hold ambiguity, promise, fear, and hope.

Don’t let the lessons, the experiences of the past dampen your enthusiasm for beginnings. Just because it’s been hard doesn’t mean it will always be that difficult. Don’t let the heartbreaks of the past cause you to become cynical, close you off to life’s magic and promise. Open yourself wide to all that the universe has to say.

Let yourself begin anew. Pack your bags. Choose carefully what you bring, because packing is an important ritual. Take along some humility and the lessons of the past. Toss in some curiosity and excitement about what you haven’t yet learned. Say your good-byes to those you’re leaving behind. Don’t worry who you will meet or where you will go. The way has been prepared. The people you are to meet will be expecting you.

A new journey has begun.
Let it be magical.
Let it unfold.

All parts of the journey are sacred and holy.
Take time now to honour the beginning.

To Nana with love…

Tomorrow our family buries a great matriarch.

As far as women go,
she was a most exceptional one.

Married for 65 years
raised 13 children
35 grandchildren
37 great-grand children
and loved  up a whole lotta
spouses and friends
who had the privilege
of having tea at her kitchen table.

People are coming from all over
to pay homage and remember
all that she represented to so many.

“Nana” might have left this earth
but not our hearts.
Her legacy carries on

in the lives that she touched.

Whenever someone

bakes some cookies,
steps out in the garden,
eats ham sandwiches at Christmas,
raises a chicken,
rides a bike to work,
adopts a cat,
measures a child on a wall,

or waves from a kitchen window,
she lives on.
Time might be a great healer
but today that feels very theoretical.
This week it is hard for those who loved her.
Thank you Vera
for being so much
to so many.
To great women everywhere
and the legacies they leave behind,

b

A holiday wish from me to you…

The excitement is building.

The food is being prepared.
The family is gathering together.
The polish traditions are being rolled out.

It’s Christmas eve.

I hope that however you are spending
this holiday season
you stop to count your blessings,
hug the people you love,
and ride a wave of gratitude into 2011.

In this moment, I thank you
for reading my blog
and being a part of my life.

I have lots more for you next year!

To your joy,
Beth

What do you get when you cross an artist with a life coach?

Answer: a very inspired project!

A long time ago I had an idea.
And that was to create a goddess calendar.
One year I tried to make something myself
but it just doesn’t turn out quite right.

But that was before I met Kendra
the fabulous behind-the-scenes
support of my business
who also happens to be an artist.

Well Kendra took my idea of the calendar
and painted it alive.

So if you, or some women you love,
would like to get your hands on the very first
Goddess Calendar of Inspiration

Sometimes I am surprised at myself…

Do you ever wake up and just feel kinda…off?

You know, not exactly in a bad mood.
But definitely not in a good one either.

At least not yet.

Today I had one of those days.
Woke up edgy.

The first thing I did was look for obvious reasons.

Did I sleep funny?
Am I getting my period?
Am I forgetting something important?
Huh.

My house is bugging me.
Too much clutter.
Even the Christmas decorations are bugging me.
Not a good sign.

I head out with a friend and we laugh a lot.
This helps.
But the anxiety I felt earlier comes back.

I get busy.
Productivity that what’s I need.
This too works for a while.
That ‘off’ feeling comes right back the minute I stop.
*sigh*
I move into psycho-analysis.
This ends with self-judgment.
For pete’s sake.

Some friends drop over for dinner.
I welcome the distraction.
Of course, when they leave
I am, once again, unhappy for no reason.
I try some of my own coaching techniques.
but so half-heartedly, I give up.

Now I am trying a night cap.
Yes, stooping to masking with alcohol.

I decide to give myself the day off
from being conscious
or enlightened
or happy.

In the end I decide to just be ‘off’ then.
I surrender to whatever ‘it’ is
and ask for the lesson to be revealed.

We will see what comes…

A Christmas challenge…

It is December 1st.

For many households. the official kick-off of the Christmas season.
Lights go up, Boney-M gets unpacked
and people start panicking about when they have to get gifts shipped off.
Or at least, that’s what happens in our household!

This December though I want to do it differently.

And I am beginning with new tradition.
A month of gratitude.
Each day in December I am going to write down
what I am grateful for.

I often mean to keep a gratitude journal
but much like my yoga practice (or lack thereof)
it goes out the window with my best intentions.

So if you are inspired, join me.
I could use some accountability partners. :)

31 days.
31 gratitude lists.

To gratitude and giving all month,
Beth
