Archive for August, 2010

Is it really the end of August?

Egads!
I cannot believe it is August 30th today.

This month feels like it has really flown by
and I must confess
I am a bit surprised at the cooler evening
and drop in weather.

It can’t be the end of dock days already…

So while I feel a tad panicked
and not quite ready for September
I have decided to use this next week
to re-group and re-focus on what I
set to accomplish this year.

Want to join me?

Dust off those 2010 goals and see where you are at.
On track?
Could be better?
Or not even close?

Sometimes having just a tad more accountability
can be just the nudge you need
to go from ‘I have been meaning to do this…”
to “I am so excited to be doing this!”

Please let me know if I can help.

I have heaps of creative coaching options
for change agents like you.

To re-grouping,
Beth

A share from the night I didn’t sleep…

The first weekend in August I stayed up all night.
Normally I am a fan of sleep
but on this particular Saturday my husband
set out to run 125 km in 24 hours
at one of the toughest ultra-marathons you can do.

The Great Canadian Death Race.
Which meant his ‘pit crew people’
stayed up too.

So while I was waiting around in the dark
with my mother-in-law at 3:00am
I learned a few things.

Like having family around for support is the best.
It is amazing how good a crappy cup of coffee can taste
And being witness to someone going for a huge goal is inspiring.

My husband inspired me not just BECAUSE he finished this race
but even more so for HOW he finished this race.

Because as Ben ran, hiked, walked and propelled himself forward

from 8:00 am one morning to 7:00am the next

he made a series of videos along the way
speaking about the 10 people who have made him the man he is today.
An awesome piece of moving footage.

So here is my coaches invitation:

Who are the people that have shaped you?

Family, friends, acquaintances,
In your life forever or maybe for a moment
Make no mistake
they are your angels
You just might not realize it at the time.

Make your list
and if you are feeling extra courageous,
tell them.

To people you might, as the book says, meet in heaven,
Beth
